Make-up for rosacea is possible but requires careful product selection and gentle techniques. Rosacea causes sensitive blood vessels, redness, visible capillaries, or inflammatory papules. Therefore, the skin needs a different strategy when applying make-up compared to normal or sensitive skin.
Make-up for rosacea can be a huge relief in everyday life. Redness can be visually balanced without completely "covering" the skin. The goal is not a mask-like result but a harmonious complexion where the skin can breathe and feels calm.
Three factors are crucial:
The foundation is always a stable skin barrier. You can learn in detail about a suitable skincare routine for rosacea and which ingredients strengthen the skin in the long term in our separate article on Skincare for Rosacea.
Important: Make-up does not automatically trigger flare-ups. Problematic are heavily covering, alcohol-containing or perfumed products, as well as vigorous rubbing or matte, heavy textures.
Make-up for rosacea should be specially tailored to the needs of sensitive and redness-prone skin. Unlike conventional cosmetic products, formulations must be particularly gentle and not further irritate the skin. Products containing alcohol, fragrances, essential oils, or strong waxes can intensify vascular reactions on the face and make redness more visible.
Ideal are:
Choosing the right foundation is crucial to gently even out redness without stressing the skin.
Pay attention to the following points:
Beauty expert tip: To find the right shade, you can test the foundation on your neck beforehand. If it blends with your natural skin tone, it’s the perfect choice.
At JACKS beauty line, you can easily order testers for our foundations.

With rosacea, the skin is especially sensitive, so it is crucial to apply Make-up gently and precisely. With the right technique, redness can be balanced, skin imperfections concealed, and irritation avoided at the same time.
Well-cared-for, well-moisturized skin is the foundation for any Make-up with rosacea. Start by gently cleansing your skin. Pat your skin dry gently instead of rubbing, and make sure the skin is clean and free of dirt particles.
Then apply a light, soothing care with sun protection factor that is free of irritating ingredients.
Use a foundation with light to medium coverage. For rosacea, Glow or Cover Foundation is suitable, depending on how much redness you want to neutralize. Both are nourishing, gentle on the skin, and prevent dryness.
To find the right color and individual compatibility, you can test the foundation in advance. Choose between Glow Foundation or Cover Foundation. Both foundations come with a free tester that lets you check the shade and compatibility on your rosacea skin.
If you don’t know your shade yet, you can also order individual foundation testers to find the right tone stress-free before buying the full foundation.
For individual redness or pustules, a concealer is suitable. Gently dab the concealer onto the affected areas instead of rubbing it. This way, the skin and redness remain protected.
Set foundation and concealer sparingly with a light powder, preferably only on the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin).
Highlight cheeks, eyes, and lips to draw attention away from redness:
Gently remove Make-up residue with lukewarm water and a mild Cleanser. Pat the skin dry instead of rubbing, and then apply a light, oil-free moisturizer. Avoid products with alcohol, fragrances, or essential oils like eucalyptus and mint.

The combination of minimally formulated products, light to medium coverage, and gentle application techniques ensures a natural result that allows the skin to breathe. Targeted application of foundation, concealer, and powder, as well as selective color accents, create a harmonious complexion.
The most important tips at a glance:
Yes, Make-up is possible with rosacea if you choose gentle, non-irritating products. Light to medium coverage, soothing ingredients like bisabolol or niacinamide, and gentle application techniques protect sensitive skin and even out redness.
Improper use or highly irritating products can increase Make-up irritation. The risk can be minimized with minimally formulated products, gentle techniques, and daily sun protection.
Optimal are liquid or creamy foundations with light to medium coverage.
For light coverage, we recommend the Glow Foundation. For medium to full coverage, we recommend the Cover Foundation.
Gently dab foundation and concealer with brushes instead of rubbing them. Apply products in thin layers, set sparingly with powder, and add targeted color accents to divert attention from redness.
Avoid Make-up with alcohol, fragrances, menthol, or essential oils like eucalyptus. These substances can increase redness and weaken the skin barrier.
