Which Skincare Products Do I Really Need?

Less is often more – that's why we have perfectly coordinated the essentials of our skincare line. You don't need 20 different products, but rather a few really good ones.

Our basics:
1. Cleanser
2. Toner
3. Serum / Peeling
4. Eye care
5. Night and day cream (with SPF during the day)

Why the correct order in skincare is crucial

As a general rule: always apply skincare from light to rich – or from “thin to thick.” Watery textures like cleansers, toners, or serums first, then creams and sunscreen. This way, all active ingredients can penetrate deeply, support each other, and build optimally on one another to care for the skin in the best possible way. This achieves better results – and avoids skin irritation or loss of effectiveness.

Skincare morning vs. evening: What changes?

Your skin has different needs in the morning and evening – for your skincare routine, you can remember:

  • The focus in the morning is on protection: Gentle cleansing, moisture, a light day cream (definitely with sun protection!) protect against UV rays, environmental stress, and oxidative stress.
  • In the evening, it’s about regeneration: A more thorough cleansing removes Make-up, dirt, and sebum, followed by nourishing serums, rich night creams, or peels to promote renewal and skin repair.

With the right skincare products in the morning and evening, you support your skin’s natural day-night rhythm.

Your Skincare Routine in 5 Simple Steps

Step 1: Cleanse your face – start right in the morning & evening

In the morning, you remove sweat and sebum from the night with a cleanser, and in the evening, make-up, dirt, and sunscreen.

Our tip: For dry and sensitive skin, pure water in the morning is enough; for oily skin, a cleanser is optimal in the evening for thorough cleansing.

Step 2: Toner – Preparation & Balance

Afterwards, a toner soothes and hydrates.

Our tip: You can apply it with a cotton pad or simply with your hands! This also saves some product.

Step 3: Extra care portion

The highly concentrated active ingredients of a serum penetrate deeper into the skin than just a cream. They increase moisture retention, have anti-inflammatory effects, and strengthen the skin barrier. Our Balancing Serum can be used daily, morning and evening. In the morning, you can optionally mix a few drops of our Self Tan Drops for a natural tan without UV damage.

Our tip: Wait until the serum is fully absorbed before continuing with your day or night care.

2-3 times a week, we recommend replacing this step in the evening with a gentle chemical peel. Our Exfoliating Serum with AHA and PHA complexes is perfect for this. Important: Start with once a week and increase the frequency if your skin responds well.

Step 4: Eye Cream – Care for the Eye Area

Special caution: An eye cream should always be applied before your day or night care – the texture is lighter and can absorb better this way.

Our tip: Gently pat it in, do not rub, to avoid unnecessarily stressing the delicate eye area.

Step 5: Apply cream – morning day cream with SPF, evening night cream

A good day cream provides light care and ideally has a sun protection factor (SPF) to protect against harmful UV rays.

In the evening, a night cream is the perfect final step in your skincare routine – it is richer and regenerates the skin.

Our tip: With the Glow Routine Set, you get everything your skin needs for the perfect glow.

Tips & Common Mistakes: What You Should Avoid

These ingredients are worth it

Do you sometimes wonder which ingredients in skincare really make a difference? Here is a small fact sheet of our favorites for you, which you should definitely pay attention to in your skincare:

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Intensively hydrates the skin, visibly plumps it up, and can reduce dryness wrinkles.
  • AHA & PHA: Promotes radiant skin, has antioxidant effects, and can prevent pigmentation spots.
  • Niacinamide: Strengthens the skin barrier, refines the skin texture, and has a soothing effect.
  • Retinal: You may have heard of retinol – we prefer retinal because it is even more effective and skin-friendly. It provides moisture, improves texture, has antioxidant effects, reduces wrinkles and pigmentation spots, and ensures a more even skin tone.
  • Plant Stem Cells: This is still quite rare – but it’s an absolute game changer in daily skincare! Our brand-new skincare routine, which will be available from autumn 2025, is based exactly on this. You can read more here.

These active ingredients you should avoid

Not every ingredient is good for your skin. Regardless of individual tolerance, there are general substances you should watch out for – that's why you'll never find them with us!

  • Aggressive surfactants: These not only remove dirt but also important skin lipids – which weakens the skin barrier.
  • Irritating alcohols: Simply don't belong on your skin! They can have a drying effect and promote irritation.
  • Parabens, i.e., synthetic preservatives: Can act like hormones and increase the risk of skin irritation – especially for sensitive skin.

Skin care in summer & winter

Our skin has very different needs depending on the season and often requires different care in summer than in winter.

Which care is ideal in warm, sunny climates, you can find out in the article Skin Care in Summer.

Tips for a strong skin barrier and well-being in the cold season can be found in the article Face Care in Winter.

JACKS Quick Tip: The 3-Step Emergency Routine

Sure, sometimes it just has to be really quick. Completely skipping skincare or even going to bed with Make-up on should still be avoided! With these three steps, you’re basically covered – in less than two minutes:

  1. Cleanse: Removes dirt, sweat, and excess oil.
  2. Serum: Provides the skin with targeted moisture or active ingredients.
  3. Cream (with SPF during the day): Protects and nourishes in one step.

Conclusion: Your skincare routine – at your own pace

Good and effective skincare doesn’t require perfectionism or even an hour a day – we promise! What’s important is that you find the products that suit you well and combine them correctly.

To support you with this, we have poured a lot of passion into expanding our new skincare line over the past two years – and we’re really excited to hear what you think when it launches in autumn 2025!

Frequently Asked Questions about Skincare Routine (FAQ)

When should I do my skincare routine?

In the morning, the routine protects against environmental influences; in the evening, it supports regeneration.

How long does a facial care routine take?

Depending on the number of steps, you should only need about 5–10 minutes to thoroughly care for your skin. It doesn't have to be more than that!

Do I need to take care of myself morning and evening?

You don't have to, of course – but you should. In the morning for protection, in the evening for cleansing and care.

Is a moisturizer enough, or do I also need eye cream and serum?

For optimal results, complement your favorite cream with a serum and an eye care product – this way, each skin area gets exactly what it needs.

What does double cleansing do: Do I really need to cleanse my face twice?

Very oily skin can benefit from a double cleansing routine. First, an oil-based product dissolves oil, Make-up, and dirt, then a water-based product cleanses deep into the pores. However, this can be too harsh for dry, sensitive skin. Also, our cleanser cleanses so thoroughly for all skin types that it is usually sufficient on its own.

We hope we can support you a bit with your daily skincare routine through this post!
