The Artist Collection by Marlene Lufen

Marlene Lufen loves good craftsmanship. Whether at home, at work, or with her Make-up. She has now designed her own Brushes for JACKS: hand-painted in her favorite shade, chocolate brown.

Marlene Lufen has been a JACKS fan for around ten years—since back when you could only find our Brushes in a small shop in Berlin. When we asked her whether she would like to create her own vegan Brush collection, it was a little dream come true for her.

She has hosted SAT.1 Frühstücksfernsehen since 1997—almost three decades live before sunrise—and talks to people who have had a particularly profound impact on her life on her own podcast, “M wie Marlene.” She has now translated this appreciation for the real into her own Brush collection.

HOW WE MAKE OUR BRUSHES

Before it all began, Marlene prepared herself: a visit to an art supply store, her own pens, and an entire afternoon to experiment. On her actual design day at the Berlin studio, she mixed, wiped, rolled, and even splattered paint with old toothbrushes alongside our creatives—until it was clear what her collection should look like.

Since then, our studio team has painted the entire collection based on these initial designs, with every step done by hand. The Brushes were made at our family-run partner workshop in southern Germany and are now ready to make their way to you.

Her daughter was there that day, by the way—Marlene says creativity runs in her family, across several generations.

“I love it when the things I work with are beautiful and of good quality. That’s how I feel about everything. I discovered your Brushes many years ago and found my favorites.”

Every Artist Collection combines creativity with responsibility at JACKS beauty line. That’s why the canvases on which the first Brushes from this collection were rolled are being given a second life.

Marlene has transformed four canvases. These one-of-a-kind pieces will be auctioned in frames, with 100% of the proceeds going to an organization chosen by the artist herself. Marlene’s choice: LebensWert e.V., an association at the University Hospital Cologne that supports children of mothers with cancer through art, music, and talk therapy.

WHERE WE DONATE

Every item gives something back

With every purchase from the Artist Collection and every Atelier artwork sold, a donation goes to a good cause. This way, each individual piece becomes part of something bigger.

Social commitment has been part of JACKS beauty line for years: from joint Brushes workshops with the Berlin-based KLIK association for homeless young people, to working with social workshops in shipping, and our annual Pink Charity campaign. This October, we are donating €1 per order as well as 50% of the proceeds from the Pink Charity set.

With the Artist Collections, we are taking it one step further – craftsmanship, aesthetics and responsibility, together with you.

FAQ

Why is the Artist Collection limited?

Because every Brush is painted by hand. This type of production takes time, experience, and care—which is why only limited quantities are produced.

Will there be reproductions?

No. Each edition is one of a kind and will not be restocked.

Are the brushes suitable for everyday use?

Yes. They are full-fledged, long-lasting make-up tools—and true collector’s items at the same time.

What sets them apart from the previous brushes?

More elaborate designs including a repair service and a 5-year Happiness Guarantee. In a limited edition, with special packaging and a certificate of authenticity. We also donate €1 from every Brush sold to a social project supporting women.

What does the certificate include?

It confirms the authenticity, limited edition, and uniqueness of your brush.

How does the repair service work?

In the event of significant hair loss, your Brush will be repaired free of charge by our manufactory, provided it has been demonstrably cared for correctly. Simply contact our Customer Service!

What material is the brush made of?

The hair is made from high-quality synthetic, vegan fibers. The handle is made from FSC-certified wood and painted with acrylic paint.

What is JACKS Atelier?

Our passion project, the origin of JACKS beauty line. JACKS Atelier encompasses our Artist Collections of Brushes and the Art & Charity project—we sell the canvases created during the brush design process in our atelier, beautifully framed. We donate 100% of the proceeds to a charitable project supporting children and women.

Where is the donation going?

Each limited Artist Collection edition will support a new charitable project that is very close to our hearts. Marlene’s choice: LebensWert e.V., an organization at the University Hospital Cologne that supports children of mothers with cancer through art, music, and talk therapy. Read more about our previous commitment here – but we’re also delighted to receive more great ideas! Feel free to send us your suggestions – whether it’s environmental protection, animal welfare, human rights, equality, or something completely different. Thank you so much for doing good together with us!
