It all started with an old painter's brush. With every new DIY project by our founder Miriam, it became more colorful. She liked it so much that she quickly repurposed it as decoration. A small, daily reminder of how much joy color brings – even in inconspicuous moments.

However, our Make-up brushes are not just tools for daily Make-up application. Every JACKS beauty line Make-up brush passes through 17 hands before it reaches our customers. They are small, individual works of art, hand-painted, lovingly designed, and unique. Behind every brush, from the first prototype to today's collection, there is a special story.

As a Make-up artist, Miriam was already looking for special and individual items for her daily work back then. In 2009, she founded her own Make-up store “JACKS beauty department” in Berlin. Just two years later, the first brush collection followed. Why use the same black brushes as everyone else on set when it can be done differently?

Since 2011, the hand-painted unique pieces that form the heart of JACKS beauty line have been created in our studio in Berlin. Here, craftsmanship, art, and creativity meet precision and care. Each brush is designed with great love.

At first, Miriam and her business partner Lisa painted every brush handle themselves. Today, a dedicated creative team works to make each piece a unique work of art. Every stroke, every layer of paint tells a story and makes the brush more than just a tool, but a small masterpiece.

After the creative design in the studio, the handles made from FSC-certified wood are lacquered in our partner manufactory near Freiburg to ensure their durability. There, they receive their logo, a gold-plated ferrule, and the high-quality vegan brush hair. Afterwards, the brushes make their way to our customers.

Our studio is not just a workplace but the creative heart of JACKS beauty line. Here, the color worlds of our brushes are created, layer by layer, stroke by stroke. Every brush reflects the values of our brand: individuality, quality, and genuine passion for Make-up.

Sometimes things have to break so that something new can emerge. In the past 15 years, things rarely went smoothly. After the initial success and high demand, there were crises, insolvencies of business partners, too many projects at once, and a burnout that Miriam experienced.

Just before giving up everything and leaving the often superficial beauty world behind, Miriam and Lisa decided on a fresh start. All stores were closed, contracts terminated. What remained was the brand name and the brushes.

With these brushes, everything started over again. Miriam and Lisa lovingly hand-painted each brush themselves, often late into the night. Step by step, new designs and ideas emerged, and eventually the first employee joined. Something big grew out of the crisis again, more honest and personal than before.

The Corona pandemic also turned everything upside down once more. But it was precisely during this time that what defines us today became clear: the focus on what really matters. The mission that Miriam and Lisa had for JACKS beauty line from the beginning was rediscovered, and online retail moved more into the spotlight.

Today, around 50 dedicated employees work to make our customers happy every day. Our brushes are the heart of this work. Over the years, they have developed just as much as we have as people and as a brand.

With the introduction of our four color worlds 2025, we have created a foundation that meets demand and offers our customers a consistent experience. At the same time, we want to highlight the individuality that each brush used to have even more strongly.

That’s why we are starting 2026 with exclusive Artist Collections.

Each brush remains hand-painted in Berlin but is designed by different artists. This way, every Make-up brush becomes a small work of art and an expression of personality.

The kickoff is by our founder Miriam Jacks herself. With every brush sold from the Artist Collection, we also support changing aid projects. Each new Artist Collection supports a different project. This way, we combine craftsmanship, creativity, and emotion and turn our brushes into true favorites that are more than just tools in your beauty routine.
