October will be pink: Our awareness month

Every October, we at JACKS beauty line raise awareness of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our Pink Charity Edition. To match this, we develop an annually changing, limited product in a beautiful, bright pink.

by Pelén Boramir-Nabbs – October 9, 2023

Together with DKMS, we want to give the extremely important topic of breast cancer prevention absolute attention and remind people to get regular check-ups and self-examinations. The campaign is particularly dear to our hearts, and especially to JACKS beauty line founder Miriam, as not only have two of her aunts been diagnosed with breast cancer, but now her little sister is also affected at just 34 years old. Our beauty expert Maren also shares her story and her personal journey openly with the community, as she too was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017.

With this campaign we want to raise awareness of the importance of regular screenings and check-ups. Breast cancer can affect any of us - but early detection can save lives.

Every year, around 71,000 women in Germany are diagnosed with breast cancer. This is the most common form of cancer among women in Germany, accounting for around 30 percent of all cancer cases. Regular check-ups and self-examination of the breasts are the key to fighting this deadly disease.

50% of the proceeds from the Pink Charity Edition in October will be donated to DKMS, which offers cancer patients self-help in dealing with the external changes during cancer therapy in its free look good feel better cosmetic seminars.

How to properly examine your breasts

1. Stand in front of a mirror and check your breasts for visible changes such as redness, swelling or dimpling.

2. Raise your arms and look at your breasts again.

3. Use your fingertips to gently palpate your breast. Start at the outer edge and move in circular motions towards the nipple. Use your left hand for the right breast and vice versa.

4. Watch for changes: Look for lumps, hardening or other unusual sensations.

5. Don't forget to check your armpits for swelling or lumps.

When is the right time to see a doctor:

If you notice any changes or are unsure, do not hesitate to consult a medical professional. Early detection can save lives!
