Optimal cleaning is the basis for well-maintained makeup brushes and essential for their longevity. In addition, regular deep cleaning of the brush hair ensures better performance of the brushes and prevents skin impurities. In this article, you will learn how to clean and care for your brushes in the best possible way.
Brush hygiene for beautiful skin
When dealing with make-up and with our skin in general, hygiene is the basis for a beautiful and even complexion.
The background is simple: we use our make-up brushes to apply foundation, for example. Small remnants of the product (80% less than in real hair brushes) get stuck in the brush bristles. In addition, microscopic skin flakes come off our face when we apply makeup and also end up in the brush. This creates bacteria and germs that we spread on our skin the next time we apply makeup. And this is exactly where the danger lies, because these bacteria can cause small inflammations on our skin, which manifest themselves in the form of pimples and blemishes.
How often should I wash my brushes?
To prevent this, regular cleaning of our make-up tools is essential!
Step by Step - brush cleaning
- STEP
Before you start cleaning your brushes, you should put a towel next to the sink. We then place our cleaned brushes on this and let them dry.
Start by taking a brush and moistening it under running water. Put a small dab of our Brush Soap in the palm of your hand and soap the brush in circular movements. Important: less is more. Only use a small drop of our Brush Soap.
- STEP
As soon as foam forms, rinse the brush under running water until there is no more foam and the water remains clear. If there are still traces of makeup on the brush, repeat the process until the brush is completely clean. Especially if you haven't washed your brushes for a long time, you may have to lather them up two or three times.
- STEP
If the water stays clear, carefully squeeze the bristles in a towel and lay the brushes down to dry. NEVER DRY THE BRUSHES! And definitely don't stand them upright! Otherwise the water can run from the bristles into the clamp and gradually soften the wood of the handle, which will cause your brush to break more quickly. You should also never put the brushes in a closed bag when they are wet, otherwise the bristles can become deformed and won't dry properly.
- Step
Leave your brushes alone for a few hours and make sure that the bristles are completely dry. Then you can put your brushes back in their place and they are ready for the next use!
Regular cleaning is essential!
Quick cleaning
If you are on the go or want to give your brushes a little fresh-up, you can use the brushes with the JACKS beauty line Brush Cleanser Spray clean. It contains alcohol and has a disinfecting effect. Simply spray directly onto the brush hair and rub it out on a paper towel. However, this type of cleaning does not replace the steps mentioned above, which you should plan to do at regular intervals. The spray was developed primarily for make-up artists who often do make-up on several people one after the other and have to clean the brushes in between. The alcohol it contains means that the brushes are ready for use again immediately.
