JACKS beauty line is a vegan, PETA-approved cosmetics brand from Berlin, with FSC-certified packaging, a growing refill system, and a commitment to making the beauty industry more honest and sustainable.
Responsibility is one of our core values—for our products, the environment, our employees, cooperation partners, and customers. For us, this means being open about what we do and acknowledging what we have not yet solved.
We don’t get everything right, but we work on becoming better every day.

Vegan & cruelty-free
JACKS beauty line is PETA-certified vegan: We produce Make-up and Skincare entirely free from animal-derived ingredients and without animal testing. All make-up brushes are made exclusively from synthetic brush hair. We explain here why we offer only synthetic brush hair.
The PETA-Approved-Vegan certification is reviewed by an independent organization. Animal testing for cosmetics has been legally prohibited in the EU since 2013; for us, that is the foundation, not the distinction. Our own standards go further: completely avoiding all animal-derived ingredients in every product.
Our packaging
JACKS beauty line uses FSC-certified chromo board as its packaging material: The FSC label independently verifies that the wood used for this packaging comes from responsibly managed forests.
This is a specific, verified step—not a free pass. Cardboard packaging also has an environmental footprint; we don’t deny that. What the label means: The forests the material comes from are managed in a way that preserves biodiversity and ecosystems.
Climate protection
JACKS beauty line records CO₂ emissions from its operations and supports climate action projects through ClimatePartner: You can see and verify which projects these are directly via our ID number.
We consciously avoid terms like climate-neutral or CO₂-neutral because they would not be sustainable claims for us. What we do: We measure emissions from our ongoing operations (Scope 1 and Scope 2) and support projects through ClimatePartner that reduce CO₂ elsewhere. This is a beginning, not an end state.
Refill System
JACKS beauty line offers a growing part of its range as a Refill System: durable cases can be refilled multiple times, reducing packaging waste without compromising the quality or effectiveness of the formulations. Currently, 35% of our range is available as refill, including the Cleanser, lipsticks, eyeshadow, Face Palette, and Compacts. The outer case remains intact; you only replace the content and pay less than you would for the complete product. A case that you buy once and refill again and again uses measurably less material over its entire lifespan than a product you buy completely new every time.
Craftsmanship & Production
JACKS beauty line produces its make-up brushes by hand: We paint the handles by hand in our Berlin studio, while the brushes are made in a family-run workshop in southern Germany. We use only synthetic fibers as brush hair, and the handles are made from FSC-certified wood.
For other product groups, we work with workshops in Germany and around the world, some of which are located outside Europe. We select our production partners based on high quality and craftsmanship standards, as durability is an important criterion for us.

JACKS beauty line offers free consultation: digitally in around two minutes, in a 1:1 video call, via chat, and in person at our store in Berlin-Friedrichshain, both before and after your purchase. That’s why our return rate is below 2%.
Fewer mistaken purchases mean fewer returns and less packaging waste, which is why our low rate is proof to us that consultation works.

We’re not where we want to be yet, and we’re saying that openly.
JACKS beauty line is currently working on three areas that have not yet been resolved: packaging materials, the share of refill products, and our CO₂ footprint. We want to switch our entire range to recycled or durably recyclable materials such as aluminium. We are not there yet. 35% of the range is currently available as a refill, and the rest will follow step by step. Our CO₂ footprint currently covers ongoing operations, Scope 1 and Scope 2.
We are writing this here because a brand that claims to have solved everything no longer has anything left to improve.

No, JACKS beauty line is not certified natural cosmetics. We focus on high-quality ingredients and effective formulations that do not meet the criteria for natural cosmetics certification. What JACKS is: vegan, PETA-approved, and cruelty-free. The difference lies in our formulation philosophy: natural cosmetics standards such as NATRUE or COSMOS specify which ingredients are permitted and which are excluded. Even without such a certification, we use our own blacklist, which is among the strictest on the market—stricter than that of many brands that describe themselves as clean. For example, we completely avoid microplastics. JACKS prioritizes the effectiveness and compatibility of every ingredient without being bound by natural cosmetics certification.
